1. Entered active politics in his teens, participated in the Indian Independance struggle in 1942 and suffered imprisonment. He served for many years not only as a Municipal Councillor but also as a Vice-President of Saligrama Municipality during which period he started a Municipal High School collecting huge donations ; and served on the Committee of management as a Secretary for many years.
2. He was elected as a member of the Mysore District Board and rendered valua­ble service as the Chairman of the K.R. Nagar Taluk Develop­ment Committee. He has served as a member of the Kasturba fund raising committee, and District Traffic Advisory Committee. In the erstwhile Mysore he served as the member of the R. A. for 5 years and was again elected as a member of the State Legislative Assembly. Now he represents Mysore South Local Authorities in the State Legislative Council. He is a staunch Congress worker and has been elected as member of the Pradesh Congress Committee.
