Social and Other Activities 1. Took B.A. degree from the Maharaja's College of Mysore and B.Com., degree from the Central College, Bangalore ; was student of the Bangalore Law College also.
2. Went to England in the year 1955 for higher studies in law ; called to the English Bar and became a Barrister. As a student of Economics was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Economic Society of England ; was engaged in legal activities and practice for a couple of years and returned to homeland' in the year 1960.
3. Was student leader throughout the high school and college careers. Took active part in the 1942 " Quit India movement" ; was general Secretary of the University Union and President of University Students' Union.
4. Organised many youth movements including a students University Rural Reconstruction Campaign in about 44 villages of Channapatna taluk, Bangalore district which was the first camp event of the students' movement in the Country and it, attracted many distinguished visitors from all over the country. This students' campaign Committee built inter-communication roads, culverts and bridges with the co-operation of the villagers and conducted adult education classes in all the 44 villages.
5. Was the Editor of 'Kranthi ', 'Satya' and 'Tainadu' newspapers; was elected to the Corporation of the City of Bangalore two times successively and served the Corporation as an opposition leader.
6. Was elected to the Mysore Legislative Assembly in the year 1962 and became the Deputy Minister for Sericulture. Re-elected to the Mysore Legislative Assembly in the year 1967 and was again reappointed as Deputy Minister for Sericulture.
7. Was one of the most leading personalities who organised the new Congress party during and after split in Congress in the year 1969. Became one of the founder leaders and organised the new Congress party from the scratch. Was the Deputy leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Karnataka.
8. Took a leading part in pulling down the then Congress (O) Government in the State ; was defeated in the year 1972 General Elections in Chamarajpet Constituency by a small margin of votes. The High Court of Mysore which considered the election petition gave a favourable decision and declared him as elected to the Assembly by declaring the opponent guilty of corrupt practices and debarring the opponent for 6 years from the election of the Assembly and Parliament.
9. Was the Founder President of the Slum development movement in the Karnataka State and has built up great following among the slum dwellers; was the Chairman of New Government Electric Factory, Bangalore; connected with several labour unions as active legal advisor is a member of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and All-India Congress Committee; Founder of Mahatma Gandhi Vidya, Peetha which runs over a dozen educational institutions starting from Primary to University Degree courses of study; is connected with several Social and Cultural Organisations in the City of Bangalore ; member of Privilege Committee.
